ORANGE SUNSHINE
SUSSO SEKI SINGH

Orange Sunshine is the debut album from cross-continental trio Susso Seki Singh, consisting of Jally Kebba Susso on Kora, Andrea Seki on Harp, and Kiranpal Singh on Santoor. The album was the brainchild of Youth, the ever-exploring producer, artist, and musician. He wanted to create an album that brought together these talented artists, and in doing so he catalysed the creation of this hypnotic and entrancing journey of traditional stringed instruments from across the globe, merging them all together with his subtle electronic elements.

The album is a meditative exploration of three instruments: Kora, Harp, and Santoor. The constantly evolving and shifting melodies build upon arpeggiated sequences that pull the listener into hidden depths between the layers of moving sound.

The impeccable Kora parts come from Susso, who comes from a background of 74 generations of musical heritage, and was exposed to incredible musicianship from a very early age under the guidance of his father the late Bully Suso, a well-respected Kora player.

Seki’s Celtic Harp explores paths that combine the contemporary bard traditions with different ethnic genres, using ancient techniques like Clairseach (Gaelic Harp).

Singh plays the Santoor, an ancient 100 stringed Indian Classical instrument. He spent ten years studying the santoor in the guru-shishya tradition in Mumbai, under the master instrumentalist of the Santoor, Shivkumar Sharma.
